summer art institute

once again i have extreme incentive to clean up the disaster area known as my studio, this year there should be a hell of a lot more room to put people, but it also seems as if i have a hell of a lot more stuff. ;) studio materials tend to multiply like rabbits in spring, especially when one's materials are of the found object sort - definitely guilty of a bit of packratism there. the studio will be in full tilt, considering the upcoming croquet social mission and SIGGRAPH prep. so it looks like there will be a gaggle of high school art kids up there some time next week, as i've been selected the place to have a studio visit/little lecture for the Fashion Design on the Edge summer course at Cranbrook.

Artists and fashion designers are intersecting more than ever.  The boundaries between the two are completely erased in this class, where participants will learn to invent like an artist and create like a designer.  Learn to create a vision, draft an idea, and fabricate everything from shoes, accessories and apparel using unpredictable materials—and no sewing machines.

man, i wish i got to go to something like this when i was a wee little artling!

in other news, you can all get your burnlab fix back on. also, according to the email fairies, it looks like someone around these parts may be yammering there too occasionally...

i may even use spellcheck. ha, no i won't.

and if anyone is trying to find me this afternoon, email being wonky. use myspace or toybreak AT gmail.com.
