I've never in my life heard a show start off so abyssmally bad only to recover into one of the more fun live performances i've seen in a while. The sound was good for once at the Majestic, full-on gut-rattling pleasure. But that first track. My god. What a ravetastic piece of glowstick fondling putrid tripe! I don't know what the deal is with aging industrial bands these days starting off their sets with the worst track they've ever penned. Stop it, please! It takes a vast quantity of cocktails to enable the listener to get that out of his or her head and enjoy what is otherwise an amazing performance. Not that there is anything wrong with a vast amount of cocktails, mind you, but it makes getting up for work in the morning a bit harsh.
anyway.
Great show, and some fun projected graphics. Sylvain was on the lights, we love the Cranky French Canadian. And what a fabulous little surprise on that afterparty! Teen angst time-warp of awesomeness, thank you djs for the incessant Skinny Puppy, Nitzer Ebb, Ministry, and 242 (heh) and Skinny Puppy and Ministry and... Delux is actually a cute little venue with much potential.
Tonight is the second installment of GothWeek, with Dethlab "practice" which will start with lamb surgery. Evidence tomorrow.
