You know you're getting old when you are on the giving, rather than the receiving end of the candy, and you spend a great while sniping about the lack of good (or any) costumes on kids these days. Seriously, teh suck.
I had a great evening passing out candy at Casa Burnlab, all the while trying to prevent canine chocolate injestion and eating some great pierogies that Michael whipped up (must have proper fuel for the doling out of candy to wee little ill-costumed beggars), and red wine out of silver chalices and listening to Vincent Price. OHMIGAWTH happy halloween, life is rough. ;)
I got sassed. Straight up SASSED by a ten year old. I open up the door and this little rugrat brat goes DAAAAAAAAAANG you look goooood... WTF? What ever happened to Trick or Treat? Excuse me Mr. Badass McGangster, but such talk is not ok.
We ran out of about 80 candy bars in an hour, which is all fine and good except only maybe 20% of the kids had any facsimilie of a costume on. I always grew up with a "no costume, no candy" policy, so I asked all these little shits Where's your costume? The main responses were I'm a thug, gangster, and Tupac. Yes, Tupac. Kid, if you were going as Tupac now you'd be getting a pile of candy out of me as you'd have to have quite a display of animatronic worms wiggling out of your eyeholes. (And no getting all socio-economic whining crap on me, Daddy was waiting out in his Escalade for most of them, if you can afford that note, buy your spawn an effing mask.)
Next time it is Tootsie Rolls, Sugar Daddies and DumDums for the improperly attired, only the worthy ones are getting the Peanut Butter Cups and Almond Joys.

Anyway, we still had great laugh, it was a lot of fun and none of them capped us (ok, me for being snotty.) heh.
After that it was off to see The Nomi Song at DFT, which I highly recommend seeing even though the end gets a bit boring and really depressing. Caffeination was required after that so we quickly hit Union street for coffee and a snack, the new tenderloin sandwich on the menu is impressive to say the least.

Man I mis Halloween in MI. Its really about the biggest thing I mis after moving south. I feel bad for my kids missing what I had as Halloween.
I Live in a older hood with a bunch of retired empty Nester's. A few of the neighbors that do something will have a little fire going but nothing like MI.
I remember using pillow cases and it weighting 15lb! Neighbors having their garage set up with hot cider for the kids and spiked hot cider for the parents.
So "Devils night" still going?
