Shorb Block Blues

Nifty free track called - "Shorb Block Blues" by Hellen Keller. (stolen from Voltage.)

This mysterious Ohio-based act produces dark, polished, somewhat experimental but still danceable electro-scapes that have the retro sound of the contemporary European scene. "Shorb Block Blues" is nine and a half minutes of shimmering, sequenced digital disco.

A bunch of my relatives are from BFE Ohio and I know there is a Shorb street there. Were these kids rocking out the electro-disco on my moniker's block? Excellent!

Well, I contacted the artist and I was informed that the street in Canton, Ohio was named after a Shorb of note around 1920. Apparently the area is a run-down crack den, with houses forclosed at a value of about $15,000. oops. My great, great, great? grandfather John Shorb opened second store in the city of Canton in 1807. I remember seeing old, tattered yellowed reciepts from it in a scrapbook.

oh and by the way, HOLY CRAP THAT TRACK ROCKS.
