This is where I practice the art of blatant self promotion er...a little studio show-and-tell. Much of the problem I've had in the past with my own clothing making is that by doing it all by hand, the hours involved in handwork drive the price up so much that it prohibits most of my friends from buying them...and I hate seeming like an obnoxious ass charging too much for my work, especially to people I know. Plus hours and hours to finish one thing prohibits me from wanting to make the pieces...and that's no good! So I'm getting my screen-printing process pretty well down and I'm actually able to finish work in what seems a reasonable amount of time - this isn't to say that I won't continue making some of the hyper-detailed pieces of the past, this is just another componant to it.

Vintage World War II (approx 1942?) wool-blend, twill khaki tie, from US Army officer's dress uniform. Screenprinted with images of early gas masks.

I only have three of these up for sale as vintage military pieces that old are hard to come by, if I find more ties to print on I'll certainly be making more like this. Hit me up if you want one, otherwise they go up to the Cranbrook Art Museum Store later this week. $40.

(This is where I hint at a forthcoming line of deconstructed vintage WWII wool officers' dress and Ike jackets - theres something really special about the fabric and construction of pieces that old, I can wait to photograph some of what I've been working on!)

The following are all available for $30 and will also be available locally at the Cranbrook Art Museum Store and Pure Detroit Design Lab. All ties are a poly/cotton blend, available in black | white | chocolate | olive | deep red
