I'm typically a proponant of any and all black humor, especially when in all its cathartic wonderousness, but man...some of these reader submissions at Salon are really too much. Some are beautiful, truthful and honest, some are born of unbridled hate and are truly disgusting.

My friend's mother read at the memorial today. I don't watch the news and I especially don't want to watch the news today, but I agree with you. Some of those were very thoughtful, some of those were very true to who the people were, and some of those were simply horrific.

Living in the UK and traveling through Ireland and Paris you see things without thinking. But dammit. They've been through worse and don't cry about it every freaking year.

Though I feel horrible for my friend who lost her father and my other friend who had a business meeting there with friends that he missed (five friends gone, just like that) there's some of that morbidity in all of us.

America is a spoiled child who bombed the hell out of the Middle East and taught Bin Laden to fight against the Russians. The CIA and FBI knew it could happen here and had warnings about it. How cynical before we are too cynical?

I might be coming out your way soon, btw. Shoots to do and things like that. We must eat (veggie for me) sushi and I must go to one of your nights djing.

No wonder this time of year makes me sad. The pain gets worse and the hatred never dies.
