I seriously am the luckiest girl in the world, and lets face it, girls like presents, especially presents from wonderful, beautiful boys for no reason other than that they are just that damn sweet and awesome and perfect. ;)

(Insert photo nerdery orgasm here.)

I came home tonight to a beautifully wrapped Holga camera - I've been lusting after one of these for years, I used to have a vintage Diana clone, (a "Dories") but the quality was so bad it was practically unusable. I have afew decent black and white shots from it but nothing mind-blowing. The point (and the beauty) is that it is a low-fi piece of crap, but too crappish and it defeats the purpose. Check out Toycamera.com for more Holga goodness.

Anyway, I am geeked beyond belief, I also have a ton of 120 expired film stashed away, horribly stored of course (which makes it even better), though I may save that until I get the hang of the Holga. You can always get new film, but old expired film for artistic purposes is much like a fine fine fine old wine. Not really reliable for editorial work, but I've gotten some of my best shots ever through straight and cross processed expired film. The gradation tends to be more subtle, it "slows" down allowing you to give it more light and the colors shift in way they really shouldn't. Old film is love.

Unfortunately someone in my family is going through some serious crap right now and I really wish a neato camera would make her happy. :(

Back to a little more painting and label sewing.
