Above are two shots of the Waumbeck house, built in 1907, also discussed in greater detail in today's edition of detroitblog.org. These were shot by myself on Devil's Night of this year, I had actually forgotten it was Devil's Night but no one even gave me a strange look nor asked me what I was doing while picking around this abandoned building for a good hour or so. Unfortunately I chickened out about entering as it was quite obviously not structurally sound, and the thought of bricks falling on my head was not in my grand Halloween plans. This ninety-eight year old structure is on the National Register of Historic Places but from the tone I gather on detroitblog it seems as if this house and the matching adjoining one, were torn down recently. Typical business around here.
And yes, it is dark, and cold, and dreary - and gets dark at what, 2pm now? So my cheesy dark scratchy borders a la ten years ago are going on everything for a while. Why? They make me happy, and I love cheese.
