San Francisco part 3

Monday morning - sadly the last day in San Francisco. Boo hoo! We had some internets to catch up on first and the Dude Where's My Car issue to attend to.

Catching up on the internets with the cute furry thing.

We um, found it just fine after a nice little saunter in the rain. Oops! Once that was sorted out, we cleaned up and headed off to Haight St. in search of shopping and more delicious food. Resale shops and shoes were on the agenda, but first, lunch. We agreed on lunch at Citrus Club, which had probably the best sake martinis ever (I say ever a lot, but this trip was not hyperbole), in addition to incredibly fresh noodle dishes made with citrus oil.

Then on the way back we hit Villains and cleaned them out of shoes...perhaps some exaggeration but none of us walked out empty handed. All practicality aside, Nix and I both fell in love with the new United Nude EAMZ pump, by Ducth designer Rem D. Koolhaas (nephew of Architect Rem senior), I had been lusting after it having just seen it featured in Clear last month:

The ‘United Nude Eamz’ is, like the Mobius, conceptually linked to a furniture design classic (a Charles and Ray Eames chair). Charles and Ray Eames were some of the most influential designers of the 20th century where they combined new techniques and materials with their strong designs. This allowed them to mass manufacture superior products. The United Nude Eamz shoe is not designed by the Eames duo, but should be seen as an ode to them and their designs. The design method we used can be described close to sampling; similar to how a lot of today’s music is made. United Nude has nearly sampled an Eames chair detail to create a new object. The Eamz comes in one heel height: hi (7.6cm)

After seeing them everywhere online for at least double what we paid (nevermind Manhattan prices, ow!), I'm feeling a bit less guilty. ;) They also came with this cute little warning card that although they are made with "space-age materials" not to jump off anything high or unstable and that they weren't responsible for any bodily injury. Let the swan-dives begin!

Given the holiday weekend, our plans to hit a bunch of area museums were thwarted, but the exterior archirecture of the De Young Museum I'm quite sure proved to be just as interesting as what was inside.

With only about an hour to spare before we had to catch our flight, we got to take a peek at the beach, which still looked rather meanacing from the storm, but of course in a most beautiful way.

The one thing that I really learned from this trip is that although debaucherous happenings are quite excellent, so are the complete opposite, moreso even - it is just that opportunities for healthful behavior in this area are quite few and far between, while the occasions for recklessness and absurdity in Detroit are always out in full force. If there is any resolution for this coming year it may be to help ensure the balance between the two and to perhaps more actively seek out some good ol' well-being fun. Other than that I'd hardly change a thing.

When can we go back?
