Detroit Zoo

The operations of the zoo aren't exactly a core service. We need to make Detroit a viable city.

Good job! The potential closing of the Detroit Zoo has to be the proverbial nail in the coffin for Metro Detroit. No amount of Superbowl hype will ever make up for something that is actually important to this area. First the Belle Isle Acquarium, now the Zoo, I'm sure the Historical Museum, the DIA and any last shred of culture or desirability will be gone, only second rate casinos and shitty sports teams will remain.

More now over at DetroitBlog. It seems as if my posts regarding the city have been increasingly cynical and pessimistic lately, I apologize for that; it is just hard to remain optimistic when seemingly surrounded by such fiscal idiocy. Have I a direct solution? Not exactly, but I'd really hope our alleged leaders could come up with something better than just killing any and all cultural resources.
